The Board of Education invites you to our next Community Conversation, focused on our Special Education Program Review, on Wednesday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m. in the Staples High School Library Classrooms.

As discussed at the recent Board meeting, the district will retain a third-party consultant to conduct the review. We welcome community input on the selection of that consultant — including what qualities, experience, and approach would make the review most effective and responsive to the community’s needs.

The purpose of the review is to identify actionable opportunities for improvement across the district’s Special Education program as a whole, not to address any individual student’s IEP or circumstances.

Please also note that, due to student privacy laws, Board members and administrators cannot discuss or respond to matters involving individual students. Families are therefore encouraged to frame comments and questions around districtwide programs, services, and practices rather than individual cases.
