Steve Zimmerman, Coordinator of Music and Visual Arts for the Westport Public Schools, was Dan Woog's guest on Where Westport Meets the World this week, recorded live in the Trefz Forum at The Westport Library.
Westport Public Schools (WPS) was recently acknowledged for its innovative approach to addressing the needs of students with language-based learning differences, including dyslexia, at the National Dyslexia Conference in Dallas, TX. Highlighting its commitment to supporting all learners, WPS was recognized as a model district for inclusive education during a session on evidence-based literacy instruction where its collaboration with the Southport CoLab was showcased.
As the leaves begin to fall, WPS middle schoolers are turning their gaze to the skies, tracking some of Connecticut’s most impressive travelers - migratory birds.
Tyler Rockwell, Staples High School '24 and current NYU freshman film student, seized the opportunity last year to work closely with JoAnn Inserra to create an engaging WPS Tools for Schools video that the EPA is currently featuring on its Local Indoor Air Quality Champions webpage.
In an effort to outline education plans, get students excited, and foster ongoing learning beyond the classroom, Natalie Carrignan, WPS Director of Technology, collaborated with representatives from her team of teachers last summer to develop and deploy curriculum storyboards for K-2 Information and Technology Literacy (ITL) Courses.
