Celebrations

Learning happens through experiences. In our World Language classrooms, cultures come to life through food, traditions, art, music, and storytelling as students develop language skills while discovering perspectives from around the world.

On January 29, 2025, Coleytown Middle School students in Mandarin classes were immersed in Chinese cultural traditions celebrating the first day of their Lunar New Year, this year, for the snake. Mrs. Wang, a CMS parent, shared insights about Chinese history and New Year celebrations. Students watched portions of CCTV's New Year Eve Gala, created traditional paper cuttings, practiced calligraphy on red couplets, and participated in festive activities. The celebration culminated in the cherished tradition of students receiving red envelopes, connecting them directly to this important cultural moment.
