Come to our Teen Fun night at the Westport Y. This is a drop off event for children receiving special education in Westport (Grades. 6 to 12 only). Snacks will be available for $1 each.

Best Buddies and S.L.O.B.S. will provide peer support!

2017 Spring Baseball - Challenger

The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges, ages 5-18, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide.

This division is sponsored by Westport Little League and there is no cost to participate. This program is offered in the fall and spring.

Intro to Pickleball: Ages 6 - 13
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation and all the rage! This is an inclusive program for children who are challenged and would like to learn how to play the new sport of PICKLEBALL! This is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Pickleball players use a solid paddle made of wood to hit a polymer ball, similar to a whiffle ball, over a net. It is a fast paced and a LOT of FUN! Together with Coleytown Middle School physical education teacher Rick Quiricone and our support staff, kids will learn the fundamentals and skills for the game of Pickleball. Peer mentors will be invited to participate.

Cycle Club: Ages 6 - 13

Come to the beach with your bike and take a spin! This is an inclusive program for children who are challenged and would like to learn to ride a bicycle and/or have open space to ride. Children must have a bicycle and helmet. Together with Occupational Therapist, Barbara Greenspan and our support staff, kids will have any opportunity to ride in a safe closed off area of Compo Beach and practice their cycling skills. Peer mentors will be invited to participate.

Skateboarding - American Originals

It's time to learn something new! Westport Parks and Recreation has teamed up with American Originals Skateboarding to offer a new and dynamic program designed for children with special needs and challenges. This is a great opportunity for each participant to learn new skills and accomplish something they may have never thought they could! Through this program children will not only learn skateboarding skills, but will gain confidence, teamwork, and build friendships. Peer mentors and volunteers will be used to keep it moving and fun!

After School Enrichment Program (grades K-5)

The Earthplace After School Enrichment Program provides a bridge between school and home. It also provides working parents with the knowledge that their child will have a seamless transition from school to an afternoon of fun and learning. Earthplace provides private transportation from all elementary schools to Earthplace.

State University, Disability Support Center, will present information, strategies and processes that HS students and their parents should know and understand to make the transition from HS to College life. Mr. BoZamphir of the SCSU Center for Technology (CAT LAB) will review high and low tech hardware and software that student can use to improve their performance in and out of the classroom
