Elio Longo has been a transformational school finance professional for over twenty years. Elio received his Master of Business Administration degree at Quinnipiac College and his undergraduate degree at the University of Bridgeport. Prior to a career change to school finance management Elio worked as a financial/marketing analyst for a multinational instrument controls corporation. He, thereafter, entered the public sector working for the City of Waterbury as its Director of Economic and Community Development as well as Grants Administrator. Elio has served the Danbury Public Schools as Finance Director and Norwalk Public Schools as Chief Operating Officer. He is most notably known for his financial acumen and ability to identify and problem-solve complex school finance and accounting issues. Elio has also worked as an Associate Faculty member at Post University providing classroom and online undergraduate and graduate instruction in areas of accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, management and information systems. He has also served on Post University’s accounting major planning committee bringing his expertise in public sector accounting to the curriculum.

Elio joined Westport Public Schools in 2013. In his role Elio has executive responsibility for the district’s finances, facilities, transportation, continuing education and school lunch program. His collaborative leadership style has been recognized by the Town of Westport and the Westport Board of Education. Elio has partnered with the Town Finance DIrector on many Town/BOE financial and operational projects producing cost-savings and improved efficiencies. He has promoted transparency in school finances and can be seen at Board of Finance and Representative Town Meetings presenting BOE financial results and forecasts. Elio is supported by a talented team of business office professionals who make his performance and professional success possible.

Elio resides in Watertown, Connecticut, with his wife Elizabeth and their two children, Matthew and Ava. During his spare time he enjoys playing piano, traveling and tackling weekend Do-It-Yourself projects.
