Social Studies Coodinator
Lauren K. Francese has been an educator in the Westport Public Schools since 2005, having taught both middle and high school social studies before being named Social Studies Coordinator in 2014. She received her M.A. in Teaching and C.A.S. in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University.
Lauren is also the co-author of Stretching Beyond the Textbook, which was published by Scholastic Press in 2014. She is currently the co-chair of the Fairfield County Regional Social Studies Council and an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut Neag School of Education.
Lauren is proud of her recent work in the district to implement of the C3 Framework, Question Formulation Technique, and an expanded National History Day program. She has also been a presenter at many international, national, and state conferences, including the National Council for the Social Studies, Right Question Institute, #EdCollabGathering, International Literacy Association, CT Reading Association, New England League of Middle Schools, and CT Council for the Social Studies. She has presented with best-selling author Kenneth C. Davis, Dr. Rachael Gabriel, and the CommonLit team.
Lauren is devoted to empowering Westport students to ask questions about themselves, their learning, and the world around them as they develop the skills they need for success in college, career, and civic life.
